Bio

I am a scholar and translator of modern Chinese literature with a particular interest in Northeast China during the Japanese occupation. This topic stems from my years as a student at Northeast Normal University in Changchun, as well as my study abroad experiences as an undergraduate student in Chengdu, Seoul, and Singapore. I completed my PhD in 2020 at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and then became a Lecturer in Chinese at the University of Malta. After living abroad for the better part of two decades, I returned to the U.S. in late 2024. My translation of Mei Niang’s short story “The Strangers’ Apparel” appeared in Renditions (2024).
