The Female Gothic in East and South East Asia Popular Culture - call for participants

While the term "female gothic" was coined in 1977 by Ellen Moers in relation to female writers, it has come to be understood in a wider sense. According to Davidson (2009: 85), it refers to " specifically female terrors" and is located within the domestic. This panel explores such terrors across East and South East Asian Popular culture: film, video games, music, anime, manga … and reflects on what it tells us about the lived reality of contemporary git=rls and women across the region.

I'm sorry this is really last minute, but I've been very ill.

    Dear Collette,

Did you manage to find enough people for this panel? Did you submit a proposal? I'd be happy to send an abstract about Mae Nak in Thailand, if there is still space.

    Regards,
