Hello everyone,
I'm a PhD candidate at UBC, and my collaborator/co-author is a migration industry professional based in Taipei. We're conducting interviews and a survey on how the current Taiwanese youth generation views the US as a study-abroad destination in light of recent developments in US politics and higher education, Taiwanese families' transnational ties to the US, and prospective students' abilities to gather information about studying abroad through their social networks and local information environment.
Our paper could be a good fit for a panel on academic and career challenges faced by youth in Taiwan (or East Asia more broadly), Taiwan's higher education sector, or trans-Pacific migration amid the anti-globalization turn in recent years. If you are organizing a panel and think our paper would be suitable for it, please feel free to contact me at eric.deroulet@ubc.ca.
