Hi,
My name is Maw Maw Khaing. I'm a PhD candidate at the University of Oxford, and I'm currently looking for a panel or roundtable to join for AAS 2026.
My research focuses on the narrative inquiry of Myanmar educators specifically, how non-state early childhood educators in Myanmar interpret and implement Montessori pedagogical values in response to colonial legacies, political instability, and the everyday needs of their local communities. Drawing on ethnographic methods, my work explores how these educators, through lived experience, imagination, and innovation, are reshaping a global pedagogical tradition like Montessori within the complex political and cultural landscape of Myanmar.
Possible topics my paper could contribute to include:
-
- Ethnography
-
Comparative and International Education
-
Decolonial Theory
- Educator Narratives
-
Critical Pedagogy
I'd be very interested in connecting if you're organizing a panel or roundtable that aligns with these themes. I'm looking forward to sharing my work and exploring opportunities for collaboration at AAS 2026.
Warmly,
Maw Maw Khaing
