Hello, I'm a PhD Candidate at SOAS University of London researching Japanese noise music. My idea is to propose a panel about Japanese music, whose topic is the encounter between avant-garde/experimentalism and popular culture, and how this disrupts the boundary between "experimental/underground" and "popular/mainstream". I'm open to hearing further ideas, including other East Asian areas and/or media and art forms. Other unrelated but reliable ideas will be taken into consideration.
