Hello everyone.
I am looking for a panel to join. My research focuses on Migration and Diaspora in Modern Shanghai.
I am currently working on an article exploring the modern police system of Shanghai from 1890s to 1900s. I will discuss how the modern Chinese police system was related to the police system of Shanghai International Settlement and Hong Kong, and how the Chinese diaspora and the Indian (especially Sikh) diaspora contributed to the development of the Chinese police system.
My Ph.D. dissertation would be about Chinese refugee migration to Shanghai, Shanghai's development during social and natural crises, and Shanghai's relations with other regions of China from 1901 to 1941.
I would like to join a Panel that focuses on these fields (or any one of them):
Migration, Diaspora, Modernity, Transnational history, Translocal history, History of Modern China, History of Shanghai, History of Treaty Ports in China, History of Modern East Asia.
