Dear Debankita,
No, there is no expectation for grantees to travel to the USA for their project or to present their findings. Yes, you can be based entirely in your country for the project term. Projects should take place within South or Southeast Asia, and the conference in which CHSS grantees are encouraged to present (within 2 years of CHSS project completion) is AAS in Asia, which is hosted in Asia annually every summer and rotates between countries in Asia.
