AAS Call for Proposals

Dear colleagues,

I am interested in organizing/co-organizing a panel or roundtable on AI entanglements in China/global China - examining how artificial intelligence is reshaping labour, education, industry, cultural creativity, and infrastructures, both within China and across its transnational circuits.

Rather than treating "AI in China" as a bounded national story, this panel aims to trace entanglements across sites and scales: the tokenized labour of IT workers and content moderators, the pedagogical anxieties and adaptations around GenAI in classrooms, the industrial policy and platform logics driving AI development, the creative and cultural economies AI is remaking (and being remade by), and the infrastructural substrates - data centers, supply chains, standards regimes - that underwrite all of this.

This is an open call - I'm flexible on format and would welcome co-shaping the framing together with whoever's interested, ahead of the AAS proposal deadline. If your current or emerging work touches on any of these threads, or even sits adjacent to them, I'd love to hear from you.
