  • 1.  Panel on the Asia-Pacific War, war memory, colonialism

    Posted 10-19-2023 04:59 AM
    Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to you as a current Ph.D. candidate at Waseda University, Tokyo, with a keen interest in fostering discussions on themes related to war memory, systematic violence during the Asia-Pacific War (1931-1945), and the broader spectrum of personal struggles and oppression during the era of colonialism and war.

My research endeavors are primarily anchored in the 20th-century Japanese Empire, with a specific focus on the histories of military sexual slavery and forced labor across Asia and Oceania. My research pursuits center on personal recollections and the nuanced ways in which individual experiences intersect with broader historical events.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you are interested in collaborating or creating a panel together.

    Sincerely,

    Hi Agnese,

My research is on Chinese children in The Sino-Japanese War and my focus is on the self-orientation of children in war and their personal choices in the face of war. I think we can make a panel on the broader theme of Asia-Pacific War or war memory.

Could we discuss more about what you have in mind for the panel? Feel free to reply to this thread or reach out to me at ziqihhhjiayouchongya@hotmail.com

    Best wishes,

    Ziqi
