Dear Asianists!
Me and fellow Asianists from Afghanistan and India are finalizing a panel proposal on 'Knowledge Economy of Marginalized Communities in Post-Colonial South Asia. Each of us will present paper(s) on depiction of Pashtun, Baloch, and Kashmiri ethnic groups in the mainstream scholarship of our respective countries. Our argument is centred around the position that these societies, previously imperial borderlands and now ethnic peripheries in post-colonial contexts, are misrepresented in the scholarship originated from the mainland. We posit that as in colonial knowledge economy they were stereotypes, the same legacy has been carried on after independence as well.
It is late call because a colleague couldn't share abstract. Thus we are seeking 1-2 panelists, preferably from countries not already in our panel. But we are willing to consider 2 panels from a country given that if the topic is different than already covered. Ours is diverse panel in terms of discipline as well as nationalities. If you are interested in theme please reach out at the email given below at the earliest.
