We are currently forming an organized panel for AAS 2027 and are looking for a chair and discussant. The working panel theme is digital visibility, unequal futures, and transnational belonging in contemporary Asia.
The panel asks how digital publics shape the visibility, emotional expression, and imagined futures of subjects positioned by educational, labor, class, colonial, and transnational inequalities. We are especially interested in how platforms do not simply circulate voices, but also format recognition, belonging, dignity, and mobility in uneven ways.
We would be grateful to hear from scholars who may be interested in serving as chair or discussant.
