Hi Ame,
I hope this message finds you well.
My name is Farah Afzal, and I am a PhD candidate and visiting lecturer at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, ON. I'm writing to invite you to be part of a panel I am proposing, titled:
"Migration, Agency, and a Gendered Lens: Women Migrants and Their Agency in South and Southeast Asia." (Please note that the title has been slightly modified from the initial version.)
For this panel, I will be presenting my research on how immigrant women use technology for transnational connectivity and advocacy in South Asia.
If you're interested in joining, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share a brief abstract of your paper at your earliest convenience so that I can include it in the panel proposal.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Subject: Individual Presenter Seeking Panel: Myanmar Diaspora Women's Transnational Resistance and Feminist Agency
Hello,
I am seeking to join a relevant panel for the AAS2026 Annual Conference as one of the presenters. My paper, titled "Transnational Resistance and Feminist Agency: Myanmar Diaspora Women in Ontario Confronting Homeland Democratic Crisis," examines the gendered dimensions of transnational political activism among Myanmar migrant women in Ontario, Canada. Focusing on women from diverse ethnic, religious, and migration backgrounds-including both longstanding migrants and newly politicized activists-I explore how these diaspora women mobilize across borders to sustain resistance networks, advocate for democratic restoration, and envision inclusive futures for Myanmar. Drawing on qualitative interviews and engaging feminist transnationalism and diaspora politics frameworks, my research highlights the intersection of gender, displacement, and political agency in diasporic activism.
I hope to connect with scholars working on themes such as diaspora politics, feminist transnationalism, migrant activism, Southeast Asian politics, or democratization movements. .
Please feel free to contact me if my paper complements your panel.
Best regards,
Ame-Khin May Kyawt
