Subject: Disbursing of funds
Hello. My name is Dr. Farhat Ullah and I am a lecturer of Social Work, at the Department of Social Work, Kohat University of Science & Technology, Pakistan. My university is near the tribal areas of Pakistan, near the Afghanistan border, and the people of the province seriously affected during the US was on terror in Afghanistan, and nearly 70000 innocent people and law enforcement officials lost their lives during this time. My area of research is also on law enforcement, peacebuilding, and countering terrorism. Presently I am working at the University of Warwick, UK as an independent Postdoctoral Research Fellow and will return to Pakistan in December 2023. I have a few queries and suggestions so this project will be successfully completed.
- If the funds are given independently to individual researchers that would be better and speedy because, in the 3rd world developing countries, the institutional process is extremely slow and mostly creates problems in funds transfer and utilization.
- Every office demands its own share and the involvement of various offices creates delays in project completion. The 10% can automatically be transferred to the institution by the fund providers and in return for this 10% the institution will be bound to assist us logistically. while the rest of the amount is given independently to the PI so that's much better. Researchers mostly work independently in the developed world.
- The institutional Red-Tapism is very high and the independent researchers mostly face problems. So if the Asian studies intend solution-oriented projects and findings then this is a more suitable way. The 2nd option is also good but that will waste the PI's precious time in funds released from the institutions and his focus will be diverted and the energy will be wasted. Thanks

Dear Anju,
All funds will be disbursed through the individual's affiliated institution. Due to that, a 10% administrative overhead should be budgeted in your grant application. With that being said, independent scholars (those without institutional affiliation) are still welcome and eligible to apply.

Hi,
I am a PhD scholar affiliated to a university. Am applying for the grant but my proposal is not related to my current research work. Will the fund be disbursed only through my university or directly to me?
Kind regards
Anju
