Hi,
We are seeking researchers to join a panel focused on the global exchange and interaction of calligraphic traditions. Calligraphy, as a rich and diverse art form, has evolved not only within East Asia but also across Central Asia and beyond-shaped by historical forces such as the territorial expansion of the Yuan dynasty and the maritime expeditions of Zheng He during the Ming dynasty.
We welcome proposals on topics including, but not limited to, Sino-Japanese calligraphic exchanges, Korea-China-Japan cultural dialogues, the influence of Islamic calligraphy on China's border regions, and other instances of cross-cultural interaction involving manuscripts, inscriptions, and rubbings.
If your research explores the global interplay of calligraphy and cultural exchange, please email j.wang-172@sms.ed.ac.uk.
We look forward to hearing from you!
