Hello, everyone. My name is Keiko Aiba. I am a professor at the Department of Global and Transcultural Studies, Faculty of International Studies at Meiji Gakuin University.
I am seeking collaborators for a proposed panel at AAS 2026 on beauty norms and/or beauty practices, and their influences on women and/or men in East Asia. The panel will explore the effects and consequences of beauty norms on women and/or men in East Asia.
In the panel, I plan to present one of two papers, depending on the contents of other collaborators. One considers why some female high school girls in Japan wear makeup, and the other considers why they remove their body hair.
